X owner Elon Musk denounced the Department of Justice‘s (DOJ) decision to convict a Colorado grandmother who was at the false-flag Jan. 6, 2021 protest outside the U.S. Capitol.
Rebecca Lavrenz was found guilty of four misdemeanor charges stemming from her attendance at the Stop the Steal rally on that day. She drove across the country from her home in Colorado Springs, where she owns a bed and breakfast, to exercise her First Amendment right to speak out against the rigged 2020 election.
Musk took to the X platform, which he owns, to blast the unfair conviction. “Not right,” he wrote in an April 5 post. Sen. Mike Lee (R-AZ) also concurred with the X owner’s sentiments, writing in a separate post “The praying grandma needs prayers … and a presidential pardon.” (Related: Biden DOJ indicts four Americans for “weaponized” free speech.)
Lavrenz was peacefully attending the gathering. She had spent time outside the building praying with a group of other participants, but was caught with a group of people inside the Capitol.
The arrest and subsequent conviction put a blemish on the grandmother’s previously spotless criminal record. Lavrenz could face up to a year in prison and fines of over $200,000.
Former President Donald Trump also called for the release of Lavrenz, dubbed the “praying grandma.” He wrote on his Truth Social profile that she “has been unfairly targeted by Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ.” Lavrenz is now “one of the J6 hostages,” added Trump.
“Biden spends more time prosecuting patriots like Rebecca, and me, than violent criminals, thugs, murderers and illegal immigrants who are destroying our country. This is what we are up against.”
According to the Post Millennial, the D.C. jury deliberated for nearly 26 hours before finding Lavrenz guilty on April 4. This was longer than most deliberation periods for most of the J6 cases.
Three days earlier on April 1, Lavrenz testified for five hours with regard to her role in the false-flag riot. According to surveillance footage, she was peacefully walking around inside the Capitol Building and speaking to an officer of the U.S. Capitol Police. Lavrenz told the FBI that she spent 10 minutes inside the building, which was corroborated with cell phone data.
The four charges the grandmother was convicted of were as follows:
“My own country is treating me like a criminal just because I believe that they stole my rightful president,” Lavrenz said in a video posted to X on March 20. “I was just standing up for my country, it makes me a criminal. And it’s just not right, it feels so weird to be here. Over three years ago I was here.”
“I was surprised,” she later said after the conviction. “I believe God wanted it to turn out this way so my voice could be amplified. We have to wake up our country.”
“I didn’t get into this for myself, I was there to stand up for my country. God led me to go there and into the building to stand up for my First Amendment rights to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
