(Freedom.news) This is exactly what tone-deaf Democrats do after they lose elections big: Stay tone-deaf.
You can tell that the “old guard” of the Democratic Party didn’t learn a damned thing from their massive loss to President-elect Donald Trump and their inability to gain control over the House or the Senate just by the actions of the House’s minority leader, Nancy Pelosi. The California lawmaker is so obsessed with keeping power and privilege she has taken to warning her fellow Democratic constituents they’d better not even suggest nominating someone other than her to remain in that post.
The Washington Times reports:
Rep. Nancy Pelosi formally announced Wednesday she is running to retain her spot as House minority leader and sent a warning shot to potential rivals by informing her colleagues that she has already locked up “the support of more than two-thirds” of the Democratic caucus.
Mrs. Pelosi has led the caucus since 2003, but the results of the election last week convinced the caucus to delay a scheduled vote this week on leadership posts until Nov. 30, with members saying they want more time to digest the shellacking the party took.
Democrats have lost 63 House seats during her tenure atop the Democratic party alongside President Obama and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, meanwhile, has emerged as a potential challenger and has warned that the party has lost touch with working-class voters in the Rust Belt and Midwest that it will need to recapture a House majority.
Mrs. Pelosi, though, made it clear in a letter to her colleagues Wednesday that she does not plan on giving up her post.
That’s Beltway-speak for, “Back off…or else.”
Younger Democrats got the message following the results of this last election loud and clear. Their party has completely lost touch with the rank-and-file American worker, after shifting so far Left under Obama that Josef Stalin himself would be proud.
But as evidenced by Pelosi’s pathetic attempt to cling to power, the Democratic establishment hasn’t learned anything – except that power is all that matters, even if the party is not in charge of anything.
Careerist politicians exist in both major parties, which is one reason why Trump favors a constitutional amendment establishing term limits. But obviously getting rid of them will be no small task.
