REAL.video founder Mike Adams: “No central authority” should be able to block your speech; knowledge needs to be decentralized

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger and founder of Natural News, is on a mission. Having himself been the victim of unfair censorship by Google, YouTube and other “tech giants,” he set out to create a viewing platform which reestablishes true freedom of expression. Real.video was launched just weeks ago, and is already enjoying excellent growth, appealing as it does to free thinkers who believe in the right to speak their minds without fear of recrimination.

Adams believes that the environment of censorship that we currently find ourselves in is a “daily drain on the human spirit.” As such, though he does not feel he has the right and does not want the power to determine what information should be viewable and what should be banned, he believes that Real.video is necessary to protect his own free speech and that of others.

Ultimately, Adams believes that even Real.video should become obsolete. In a recent video posting on the site he explained, “Ultimately there should be no central authority; there should be no server; there should be no central location that can block your speech. And, frankly, the only reason I even built this was because we had to because we’re all being censored off Facebook and YouTube and elsewhere. But, ultimately, I would like to see a world in which Real.video in its current rendition, as a centrally server-hosted platform, literally becomes obsolete because it is a decentralized system.” (Related: YouTube censorship RAMPAGE running amok as all the good people keep getting terminated.)

Protecting the most diverse array of legal speech

Adams is particularly interested in being responsive to the needs and feelings of his audience. As such, after receiving incisive commentary from the Real.video viewership, he made a brave decision which will open him up to the full wrath of the government and mainstream media outlets.

In his post, Adams explained that certain videos are banned in overseas countries, and these have to be blocked on Real.video in those countries. For example, in certain Middle Eastern countries it is illegal to speak out against the Prophet Mohammed, so that type of content would have to be blocked there. And the same would apply to posts by holocaust deniers in Germany, where such content is illegal.

Initially Adams blocked this type of content in the United States, as well. Although it was not banned, it was delisted, which is effectively a shadow ban in which the video does not show up in any search results and is therefore undiscoverable. This raised issues from free speech advocates in the United States, however, since these videos are not blocked in this country.

Having reviewed the feedback, Adams has decided that the only content which will be banned on Real.video is pornography and anything that is illegal. (Editor’s note: The ban also includes Satanism and Satan-worshiping videos for reasons above and beyond human law, extending into spiritual law.)

Adams noted, “In terms of political expression, people questioning history, people questioning reality, we’re not going to ban it unless it’s illegal in America. We’re not going to ban it in America if it’s legal in America. … We protect free speech, including speech that we find offensive, extremist or vulgar, as long as it’s not illegal.”

“We’re here to serve liberty and freedom of speech, and to serve all those people – including myself – who have been heavily banned and censored off of other platforms. That gives myself and our team a very special experience that gives us insight that global elitists and tech elitists don’t understand because they’ve never been banned; no-one’s ever told them no. But we’ve been banned every day. My YouTube channel is gone. I was deplatformed before Alex Jones was deplatformed. That’s on the record. So, we have a very unique perspective and we are thoughtful and we are not afraid to improve policies based on feedback.”

Adams believes that InfoWars was just the first of many targets, and that the tech giants will systematically turn against other independent media targets until they have eradicated them all.

Adams believes in decentralization and hopes that ultimately there will be no need for Real.video or that it might become a decentralized peer-to-peer cloud bandwidth system one day.

Until then, Adams will keep fighting the fine fight for freedom of speech.
